App Description

Sensoria Walk is now available on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.sensoria.walk

The Sensoria Walk app is the most accurate actigraphy solution for anyone walking slowly. For people with gait asymmetry, or during rehab after an accident, or during post surgery rehab.

Sensoria Walk has been designed from the ground up for any person with slow or impaired gait. This app is the ideal companion of the Sensoria smart socks

The Sensoria Walk mHealth application targets patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease. The goal is to monitor gait and help control a condition called Freeze-Of-Gait (FOG), which greatly increases risk of a fall. The app connects via Bluetooth to Sensoria Smart Socks equipped with textile pressure sensors, and microelectronics (nine axis IMU’s and haptic motors). The inertial platform and pressure sensors’ data is input to an algorithm that monitors gait and detects the manifestation of a FOG episode to make the haptic motors vibrate automatically at a clinician predefined mRehab frequency. According to research, rhythmic vibration can improve the patient’s gait and move past the FOG episode. Alternatively, the user can also send a command via the mobile app to have the motors vibrate, either via a simple tap on the device, or a voice command. All hardware is available and delivered to our clinical research partners. The data collected by the device and the FOG events outcomes will be collected via the Sensoria Cloud and shared remotely with clinicians and researchers. We are seeking funding to develop the first app, for Android or iOS platform. The device could be a smart phone or a smart watch for the selected platform. Potential integration with smart in-home speakers (e.g., Alexa skill) could further improve usability of the system in a home environment. The system is washable and rechargeable. Feedback from App Factory and initial milestone of the project (scoping) will determine the selection of the OS and device form factor.
